The Wonderful God of Mummification and His Cool Role!
The god of mummification was very important along with his amazing role. His name would have to be Anubis! Anubis watches over the crazy little mummies, even mummified animals. Hes got a boring role I'd say, but pretty cool. Anubis also makes sure no one robs those mummies. I wonder what Anubis looks like, don't you? Well, Anubis is a jackal, actually half jackal. Anubis has the body of a human, but the head of a jackal. Weird right? Anubis is the a pretty awesome god. A jackal is like a dog and it's a member of any three small to medium species. Can you picture him now?
Do You Know Where Animals Were Buried?
Animals can be buried in tons of spots. Sometimes they put them in special sarcophagus's. They could also put the mummified animals in the sarcophagus with their owner. I would totally do that! There's lots of places in Egypt, so they just scattered them everywhere in the big ol' Egypt! I wonder how you would find your mummified pet. Underground is a good place, especially in Saqqara. Coffins weren't very spectacular, but you could be put in that too. Purpose-made pots had been used for tiny animals, like a kitty cat.

Mummified Animals. What kinds?
They mummified some crazy animals back then, but now we don't mummify them we bury them or do other silly things! Some animals they mummified are Beasts, Birds, Reptiles, and Fish. They mummified sacred pets from long ago which would be a cat and a scarab beetle. Those beetles are a little creepy while cats are more on the normal side. The bigger types of animals are Monkeys, Dogs, Snakes, Jackals (which are like dogs), and Crocodiles. I wonder why they mummified a whole bunch of animals and not just a few, because we still have a few more to go. Last, but not least, they mummified Geese, Mice, Shrew Mice, Ibis's,and Falcons. There are a lot of animals they mummified, but my favorite animal would have to be a monkey. I just adore monkeys! Well, animals are number two on the mummification list and i love animals.
They Mummified Animals because...
Animal and human mummification was very popular. Quite a few people mummified animals, because they want to see them in their afterlife if they have one. If a person had a favorite pet that passed away they would occasionally mummify them. Animals could be embalmed for certain religious reasons. Representatives, or spiritual messengers of the gods flourished the animals.Millions were bred just to be mummified! Crazy right?
The Way of Animal Mummification
Animals were mummified in a few ways. Most of the time they would mummify animals the same way as people. They even put their organs and icky things in canopic jars! Sacred animals weren't left to rot of course, so they were mummified. The way they mummified animals were to bandage them and pack them in little miniature wooden coffins, or purpose-made pots. Sometimes if a person cared a lot about their special pet they would have whoever was mummifying them put the animal in the coffin with the owner. If the owner was dieing and loved their pet so much they would have it mummified at the same time as the owner, even if the animal was still alive. There might be some crazier ways to mummify animals, but these are some to keep in mind.
